Mike Chen, Marketing Director, Synology Inc: Going aggressive on tapping the Indian NAS market further

Synology, Taiwan’s well-known network storage company, which has succeeded in building its brand in India quite successfully with SOHO (small office home office) and SME (small and medium enterprise) entities, through its Mumbai-headquartered distributor, EBM (Esdee Business Machine), has embarked on the next phase of growth and expansion in this country. This intent has been made very clear by the visiting high-level delegation of Synology Inc to New Delhi quite recently.

As a part of its expansion drive, Synology has roped in another distributor, the Kolkata-based Supertron Electronics, which is expected to take the brand Synology further deeper into the Indian market. Supertron has a high density presence in India, and distributes an array of products from top IT companies of the world including Seagate.  Meanwhile, Synology has also tied up with Amazon India for making its SOHO line of NAS (network attached storage) products available on the popular e-market place. Synology’s aggressive move is likely to give tough competition to some of well entrenched NAS players including QNAP and Netgear, here in India.

“India is aggressively marking its presence as a growth engine in the global economy, owing to an unparalleled growth in the SME segment as well as ambitious government initiatives like Smart City Programme. We, at Synology, are committed to aiding this growth in the country with our industry-leading NAS solutions which help organizations gain more agility and streamline their work processes”, said Mike Chen, Marketing Director, Synology Inc.

Foraying into India way back in 2009 with EBM, Synology has registered an impressive 30 percent CAGR growth since 2015, with SMEs contributing to a major chunk of this growth. Synology will also ink new partnerships in the country in the year 2018 along with organizing reseller events and trade shows as well as studying consumer behavior to ensure last mile market presence in the ongoing year.

Four complete product lines of industry-leading NAS that are designed to meet different requirements and needs from personal users, small offices, SMEs, and enterprises (including XS/XS+ series; Plus series; Value series and J series) provided by the company are now available in India. The company would also be unveiling the latest DiskStation Manager 6.2 (DSM6.2) OS update along with new applications and services in the country soon.
